  • Reverend John Knight

    Reverend John Knight, Senior Pastor, Bright Side Baptist Church. He grew up in Pittsburgh and received a Master in Arts in Religion from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Before joining Bright Side, he served as executive pastor at the 10,000-member Mt. Ararat Baptist, the largest church in southwest Pennsylvania. He has three daughters with his wife Tamara.

  • Warner Batty

    Warner Batty, is a returned citizen who was incarcerated for 50 years at SCI Camp Hill, a federal prison in Indiana after the Camp Hill riot, SCI Rockview and SCI Mahanoy. He gave his life to Christ in prison and was known there as a man who “walked with the Lord.” He received his GED in 1977 and credits from Harrisburg Community College. Warner served in prison with the Diplomatic Jaycees, Lifers Organization, tutored reading and writing, helped with various self-help groups and attended YPM sessions.

  • Pastor Darren Johnson

    Pastor Darren Johnson was incarcerated for five years. He has a B.S. in Biblical Studies and a M.S. in organizational leadership from Philadelphia Biblical University, a MBA from Cairn University and Doctor of Ministry from Howard University School of Divinity. He is the co-founder and board chair of Men of Purpose International. He has served in ministry in churches and in Christian charter schools. He and his wife, Carla, have two children.

  • Timothy White

    Timothy White is the son of Marsha Curry-Nixon, chapter 5 in Get Free and Stay Free-Stories of Inmates Who Found Freedom Inside and Out. He served 5 years of a 5-to-10-year sentence at SCI Camp Hill, and then was celebrated in the Reader's Digest (click to read the story) when he heroically saved a man’s life. He is a staff member in his mother’s non-profit, Amiracle4sure. He has four children and lives in the Harrisburg area.

  • Chaplain Michael Irvin

    Chaplain Michael Irvin serves in York County Prison with Good News Global. He served for 25 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the highest enlisted rank of sergeant major. He has a Master of Arts degree in biblical exposition from Liberty University. He and his wife, Leslie, have four children.
